Organic Pesticides

Have you ever thought how farmers used to fight off crop pests hundreds of years ago before the invention of harmful chemical and synthetic pesticides. Farmers came up with multiple remedies for removing infestations from their gardens and farms.

Here is the list of some of materials used as organic pesticides which are all-natural, inexpensive and ideal for your home garden.

  1. Neem: We Indians consider neem oil as a powerful, all-natural plant for keeping off pests. Neem juice and neem flakes are the most powerful natural pesticide. This extremely bitter tree leaf can be squeezed by proper methods to get its oil extracts which can be sprayed on the plants.

  2.  Himalayan cystal salt spray: This can be used for treating plants infested with spider mites. 2 tablespoons of this salt can be mixed into one gallon of warm water and sprayed on infested areas.

  3. Eucalyptus oil: It is a great natural pesticide for flies, bees and wasps.Sprinkling few drops of eucalyptus oil where the insects are found can work wonders for immediate removal.

  4. Citrus Oil and cayenne Pepper Mixture: It works well on ants. It is prepared by mixing 10 drops of citrus essential oil with one teaspoon cayenne pepper and 1 cup of warm water. Do shake it well and spray in the affected areas of your garden.

  5. Mineral oil: This can be used as organic pesticide by mixing 10-30 ml of high-grade oil in one litre of water. Stir it well and pour into a spray bottle. It works well for dehydrating insects and their eggs.
